Kojoson Shares Debut EP TOXIC FREEDOM

Hailing from Accra, Ghana, and based in the US, rising Afro-fusion artist Kojoson has just released his debut EP, TOXIC FREEDOM, showcasing his unique approach to combining Afro music with western musical styles. The six-track EP, which Kojoson wrote, recorded and produced entirely in his home studio, is an eclectic journey that mirrors the complexities of personal freedom and the emotional weight it carries.

“Music is like the clothes you choose for your ears”, Kojoson explains. “I believe everyone can enjoy the soul of every single melody no matter the voice behind it. With TOXIC FREEDOM, I want to show the limitless ways music can touch the soul, reflecting all the emotions we experience on earth.”

Speaking further on the EP, Kojoson says, “All the freedoms and independence I’ve had in my life sometimes become too much for people to handle me. Maybe it is sometimes too toxic for them.”

TOXIC FREEDOM is led by the standout track, ‘AYO’, a deeply personal song inspired by the loss of Kojoson’s younger sister. Elaborating further, Kojoson shares, “It’s about my little sister who I lost when she was just about two years old. I lost her because a family member was very careless when taking care of her. This same thing runs in the world. People do not care about the safety of others, and this has given rise to wars, destruction and deaths that have led to others losing their loved ones, like I did. So, this song is also for someone out there, planning to create chaos, to hear and rethink their decisions.”

As he continues to carve out his unique space in the music industry, Kojoson invites listeners to explore the diverse emotional landscapes within his work and connect with the universal themes of love, loss and liberation. TOXIC FREEDOM is available to buy/stream now on all platforms.
