Berlin-based R&B singer-songwriter DALEE released their heartfelt new single, ‘Apple Tree’, on March 14th. Featuring a live string quartet, bass, and drums, the track weaves organic instrumentation with raw emotional depth. Inspired by a train ride following a breakup, the song reflects on the bittersweet realisation that love alone isn’t always enough.
At its core, ‘Apple Tree’ explores the inner struggle of letting go. The song’s pre-chorus becomes a conversation between two voices, one urging forward, the other resisting loneliness. The chorus draws a striking parallel between human relationships and nature: “Like the falling of the fruit, gotta part my ways with you, make my heart take seed—time I focused on my own apple tree.”
