LÉKS RIVERS drops a hypnotically hazy EP, ‘Pulp Noir’

British alt-R&B trailblazer and UK rap innovator LÉKS RIVERS returned on 12 November 2024 with a bold new offering, Pulp Noir, a 3-track EP that redefines boundaries and celebrates fearless self-expression. Known for his genre-fluid storytelling, LÉKS RIVERS crafts a dynamic sonic journey that radiates freedom, authenticity, and unapologetic creativity.

Drawing inspiration from icons like Jimi Hendrix, Prince, and Michael Jackson, Léks channels their pioneering spirit into a soundscape that seamlessly blends grime, Afroswing, alternative R&B, and lush hip-hop. The result is Pulp Noir—a vibrant testament to his commitment to originality. Packed with infectious energy, the EP captures the euphoric thrill of breaking free from societal molds. For LÉKS RIVERS, this project is more than music; it’s a manifesto. “I wanted Pulp Noir to be a Phoenix moment—a hypnotic, hazy sonic serum that inspires people to embrace their truth and boldly claim what they desire,” he shares.

Described by the artist as “an instruction manual on love with one step—you have to go through it,” the EP pulses with youthful exuberance, playful charm, and a daring sense of adventure. As LÉKS RIVERS puts it, “I want people to express themselves fearlessly. Don’t let fear hold you back; what you’re seeking is often found in the places you’re most afraid to explore.”

Pulp Noir is more than an EP—it’s a rallying cry to live boldly, love deeply, and embrace your true self without compromise.

This EP was born in a spark of inspiration: a late-night studio session transformed by a single moment. LÉKS RIVERS recalls, “I’ve serendipitously caught eyes with the girl I’m seeing just as she’s walked in with some food with her wry smile that says a thousand words and it sparked this idea in my head of the tentative tight rope we walk in modern life of not always being as open as we could be. Often people need a disruptive push to express how they truly feel and I wrote the hook first and couldn’t stop singing it, it felt so complete it came fully formed.”
