Mez Confirms Debut Album Electric Future Gangster, Drops ‘Platinum Fubu’ With UMI

GRAMMY-nominated artist Mez is set to release his debut album, Electric Future Gangster, on November 20 via Mass Appeal. A Raleigh, North Carolina native, Mez has established himself across writing, performance, video direction, and business, with this album serving as the convergence of those disciplines. 

Framed as his most personal work to date, the project follows recent credits including a feature on Dahi’s Black Boy (Alternative) and his direction of the music video for Dahi’s ‘How To Pray’, featuring Kendrick Lamar and Amber Mark. Electric Future Gangster is presented as a genre-blurring, multi-medium body of work that draws from Mez’s broad creative range rather than adhering to a single style.

​Alongside the album announcement comes the release of ‘Platinum Fubu’, a collaboration with Seattle’s soulful singer-songwriter UMI, building on the momentum of the earlier prelude track ‘Still Loading’. Driven by guitar, ‘Platinum Fubu’ traces the ever-changing landscape of modern romance. The song’s open arrangement lets the vocals linger and breathe, creating a sense of closeness, while UMI’s voice is seamlessly interlaced throughout, not just as a feature but as an essential thread in the song’s tapestry. 

Together, these two singles hint at the album’s dance between nostalgia, contemporary R&B storytelling, and the sweeping creative vision Mez brings to every note.
