Chiedu Oraka Confirms Kwechiri EP for November 18, Drops ‘Cocoa Butter’

Chiedu Oraka returns on November 18 with Kwechiri, a new EP whose Igbo title means ‘resilience.’ The Hull-based artist, known as the Black Yorkshireman, has built a reputation for electrifying live performances and was recently selected to open for Coldplay in his hometown. The project took shape over a concentrated burst of studio sessions, following a week that pushed Oraka to his limits.

The lead single, ‘Cocoa Butter’, produced alongside Oliver Reese, sets the tone with a taut, high-octane delivery. Oraka navigates shifting flows and vocal textures, his voice adapting fluidly to the evolving production. The track culminates in a striking guitar solo, while its accompanying video subverts classic Spaghetti Western motifs.

Chiedu Oraka shared: “Probably the most enjoyable one I’ve done, which is pretty mad because it has also been the most challenging. What you are hearing is the result of a sensational week where I was tested but didn’t fail; I just embraced it and made the most impactful music of my career so far.”
