Steve Lacy Brings Oh Yeah? to North American Stages This Fall

Four years after the release of Gemini Rights and its chart-dominating single ‘Bad Habit’, Steve Lacy returns with Oh Yeah?, a self-produced RCA album that broadens his progressive R&B palette to incorporate elements of rock, psychedelia and trip-hop. At 28, the Grammy-winning multi-instrumentalist and core member of The Internet has spent the past decade evolving from bedroom producer to architect of expansive, genre-blurring records, earning two Spotify Billions Club honors and a Best Progressive R&B Album award along the way.

Across ten tracks, the album centers on incisive guitar lines and fluid, evolving rhythms. ‘is it cool?’ finds Lacy and SZA trading verses over a taut funk groove, while ‘pure colour’ enlists Erykah Badu atop submerged, dub-inflected bass. ‘the feeling’ ventures into extended electronic textures. The nine-minute ‘nice shoes / in your world’ and ‘lovesexdrugbomb’ with Cecile Believe underscore the album’s commitment to letting texture and negative space shape the listening experience.

Lacy brings Oh Yeah? to the stage this autumn with a 27-date Live Nation tour, his first headlining run since 2022’s Give You the World Tour. The itinerary opens September 27 at The Armory in Minneapolis, with stops at Radio City Music Hall, Red Rocks Amphitheatre and the Hollywood Bowl, before concluding November 30 at Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre in Vancouver.
