dove Rd’s ‘Fantasy’ Blends Faith, Heartache, and New Beginnings

dove Rd introduced his single called ‘Fantasy’ on 18th September, which was his first release under that new name. Since both of his parents were pastors, his first experience of performing was at church, but it was Michael Jackson‘s Thriller that sparked a passion for performing which he never lost. He had recorded his first song by the age of seven, after which he went on to study in the choir, take part in musical theatre and engage in songwriting, before taking a detour into playing college football, suffering an injury, moving to Sydney, and changing his theology degree into a songwriting degree. He then spent many years as a pastor. It wasn’t until he toured with Emblem3 that he began to feel lost, until one night on a road named dove Rd the name came to him. Subsequently, a verse from Matthew gave the name greater significance by referring to peace and new beginnings. Throughout all these changes, music has always been the constant element.

‘Fantasy’ started as a meditation on how someone can become such a vivid memory that they almost slip into unreality. He began writing it in the midst of a relationship, with no specific muse, and left it unfinished. When the relationship ended, he returned to the song and heard the lyrics in a new light. Built on acoustic guitar, the track grows with punchy drums, wild guitar textures, and layered vocals that make the song feel both intimate and expansive. Obsession, exhaustion, and the slow fading of what once felt real are woven into the arrangement, left raw and unadorned.

This record treats each song like a journal entry, capturing love, heartbreak, family, faith, frustration, and nostalgia so listeners can find pieces of themselves within the music. ‘Fantasy’ is the first page of this new chapter. dove rd shared: “‘Fantasy’ means a lot to me because it represents both heartbreak and rebirth. It’s my first single as dove rd, so it marks a new beginning for me as an artist.”
