Afroholic Records Unveils ‘Negra Soy’: Nitefreak’s Latest International Collaboration

Zimbabwean producer Nitefreak released ‘Negra Soy’ alongside Zapapaya and La Negra Hawkins on 21 August via Afroholic Records. As a self-taught DJ and producer active since 2009, Nitefreak has emerged as a defining presence in the Afro House and Afro-Progressive House landscape, steadily building a catalogue that extends well beyond local scenes. His remix of Magic System’s “Premier Gaou” with Francis Mercier achieved Gold certification in France, underscoring his international reach. Collaborative credits span Francis Mercier, Black Coffee, RÜFÜS DU SOL, BLOND:ISH and Grammy-nominated Amadou & Mariam. Releases on Spinnin’ Deep, Higher Ground and Deep Root Records have earned support from Black Coffee, Diplo, Keinemusik, Bedouin, Solomun, Vintage Culture, Pete Tong, Gorgon City and Nora En Pure, as well as BBC Radio 1 airplay, strong streaming numbers, Top 5 Beatport placements and editorial features on Spotify and Apple Music. Nitefreak also heads Afroholic Records, the independent label he founded to champion African electronic music and the producers shaping its evolution both on the continent and in the diaspora.

‘Negra Soy’ opens with instant power, pairing commanding vocals with a driving Afro House rhythm, smooth synth leads and a dense bassline. Over its three and a half minutes, these elements are arranged intricately, allowing the mix to breathe as the arrangement evolves. The production pushes forward with a clear direction whicjh allows the vocal performance to dance along the melodic lines. It is a track that would sit comfortably in the sets of Black Coffee, Keinemusik or Francis Mercier.

Nitefreak will headline Amajoyo presents Afroholic ADE on Friday 23 October at Soulkitchen Amsterdam, with doors open from 23:30 to 05:00. The event highlights the connection between African and European electronic music as Amsterdam Dance Event marks its 30th anniversary. Amajoyo, the Afro House, Afro Tech and Melodic House brand and label founded by Dutch DJ and producer De La Noise, joins Nitefreak on the lineup alongside De La Noise, Wilson Kentura, Thami The Unknown, Elson Soares, Randoree and Marinus.
