Janet Jackson Will Film Her ‘Control’ 40th Anniversary Concert For Theaters

Janet Jackson, a five-time Grammy winner, has announced that her upcoming Control 40th anniversary concert, set for December 12 at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida, will be filmed for a theatrical release. Control, her landmark third album released on February 4, 1986, marked a pivotal moment in her artistic evolution, widely recognized as the project where she asserted her creative identity. Earlier this year, Jackson commemorated the album’s anniversary with a video reel highlighting its iconic visuals. Her career and personal journey, including the era surrounding Control, were also explored in the 2022 Lifetime docuseries Janet Jackson.

​The Sunrise concert is designed as a full-blown Control celebration. Jackson has teased fresh costumes, behind-the-scenes stories from the album’s creation, and a promise that every song on the LP will get its moment in the spotlight. While she has kept the setlist under wraps, her February tribute reel revisited classics like ‘Pleasure Principle’ and ‘Nasty’, showcasing the album’s signature vocal style, crisp funk beats, and iconic choreography. So far, she has set the stage for an immersive night: the entire third album performed live, then transformed for the big screen.
