K. Michelle Sets October Date for Debut Country Album Jesus & Whiskey

K. Michelle will release her first country album Jesus & Whiskey on October 16 through Real Outlawz Records under exclusive license to BBR Music Group. The Memphis native built a multi-platinum R&B catalog that began with the gold-certified 2013 debut Rebellious Soul and continued through five consecutive Billboard R&B-charting LPs, all grounded in sharp storytelling. Raised on records by The Judds, Lee Ann Womack, Mary J. Blige and Whitney Houston, she secured a music scholarship to Florida A&M University by yodeling and has kept country material in her live sets for years while appearing on The Real Housewives of Atlanta.

Produced by Kristian Bush of Sugarland, the nine-track project leans on acoustic guitar, steel, piano and close harmonies to move through faith, heartbreak, redemption and love. The title track ‘Jesus & Whiskey’, already out, is a guitar-drenched ballad co-written with ERNEST, Jordan Dozzi and Rocky Block that pairs delicate piano with smoldering electric lines from Justin Schipper. The tracklist also includes the previous single ‘Jack Daniel’s’, plus ‘Yodel’, ‘Blame Tennessee’, and more.

With the talent and charisma behind her name, one thing is for certain though, K.Michelle is part of the first wave of black artists spearheading the movement to reclaim their space within country music. She is coming out the gate swinging and leaving little room for the ‘noise’ to stop her momentum.
