With AFROTRAX approaching on 4 December, we’re turning our attention to the music of Jairic. The Detroit-raised, Cannes-based rapper, producer and storyteller continues to shape an independent, cinematic strain of hip-hop through sharp lyricism, genre-blurring production and a fully self-written, self-produced approach. His 2025 EP n=40 (released 5 December via Rich Air Music) marks a defining chapter in his career, distilling four decades of artistic growth into eight tightly packed tracks that move between hard-hitting rap, reggae-inflected grooves, thrashing instrumentals and reflective storytelling.

In this AFROTRAX RELEASE RADAR, we shine a light on three standout tracks from Jairic’s n=40 EP: ‘Don’t Let Me Put A Track On You’, ‘Yolo 2 Yoga’, and ‘Still AF Gospel’. ‘Don’t Let Me Put A Track On You’, released in September 2025, weaves bold, defiant lyrics into a hypnotic soundscape. Dreamed up during a stroll along the Croisette in Cannes, it pulses with Caribbean rhythms and reggae bass, mixing sun-drenched vibes with a confrontational edge. Club-ready remixes by Krono and NERVO have since taken the track to new heights, including a Tomorrowland main stage feature. ‘Yolo 2 Yoga’, the EP’s centerpiece, surges with experimental hip-hop energy, pairing agile vocals with themes of freedom and facing the past. The EP closes with ‘Still AF Gospel’, a track that channels the power of a sermon, doubling as a heartfelt message to Jairic’s children and blending dynamic beats with themes of protection, reflection, and unwavering resolve.

Collectively, these selections provide an entry point into Jairic’s evolving, independent sound in anticipation of his AFROTRAX appearance.

Explore Jairic’s latest releases, delve into the broader AFROTRAX lineup, and begin assembling your festival soundtrack.
