Black Motion drop bewitching afro house remix of Karmacoda’s ‘Time’

South African Afro House luminariesBlack Motion dropped a staggering remix of Karmacoda’s classic ‘Time’on 6 March. Released viaSola Musa Music, theAfro House reimagining reinforces Black Motion’s position as a global music force at the helm of innovative soundscapes.

The remix gently twists and turns the R&B-influenced original into an Afro House anthem that can invigorate any dancefloor. Through Black Motion’s pristine and intentional sound design, along with their infamous, chest-rattling percussion, they create a powerful atmosphere which keeps the listener tethered to the beat throughout. The addition of intricately placed layers of rhythms, which dance in tandem with the striking vocals, elevate the remix to soaring heights. So far, the track has received acclaim from  tastemaker publications YourEDM, Music In Africa and SIX AM. 

Sharing more on the remix Black Motion said; “The ‘Time’remix was born from a conversation with the ancestors, a reminder that time is not just counted, it is felt in the drum and carried in the spirit. We approached it as a ritual in sound, where rhythm becomes memory and melody becomes prayer. It is our offering to the eternal pulse that guides us beyond the clock.”

Black Motion are composed of Thabo Mabogwane and Kabelo “Problem Child Ten83” Koma. The prolific pair have crafted a formidable reputation, with releases on Defected Records, multiple wins at the South African Music Awards (including Best Duo/Group andBest Dance Album) and a celebratedNPR Tiny Desk performance. Karmacoda are a duo based in San Francisco, whose music spans electronica, trip-hop, R&B, ballads, and dream pop. Over the course of their 20 year career they’ve received support from CLASH Magazine, Wonderland Mag, Electronic Groove, House Music With Love, Dancing Astronaut to name a few, as well asairplay on NPR Music.
