Countdown to Afrotrax: Artist Spotlight – 25K

25K (born Lehlohonolo Molefe in Atteridgeville) joins the AFROTRAX lineup at Cape Town’s The Ostrich Farm on 4 December 2026. Known as 25K the Plug, the trap artist blends sharp lyricism, street storytelling, and trap production rooted in his Pheli upbringing.

25K began building his music career long before mainstream recognition arrived, developing his skills as a rapper and producer before gaining wider attention with his single ‘Culture Vulture’. Originally released in 2017, the track gained momentum in 2019, with a remix featuring AKA and Emtee earning Best Remix at the 2019 South African Hip Hop Awards. The success helped establish 25K as an artist with a distinctive perspective on South African hip-hop, leading to a recording deal with Sony Music Entertainment Africa in 2021.

His debut album, Pheli Makaveli, arrived in 2021, curated by producer Zoocci Coke Dope. The project strengthened his reputation as a storyteller, blending kasi influences with trap production and reflections on the realities of life in Atteridgeville. In October 2024, he followed it with Loyal to the Plug: The Life & Times of Don Kilograms, further developing his sound and perspective. The album went on to win Best Hip Hop Album at the 31st South African Music Awards in 2025.

AFROTRAX brings 25K to The Ostrich Farm on 4 December, where he joins French Montana, B.o.B, Cassper Nyovest, Nasty C, YoungstaCPT, Blxckie, Jairic, Rarri, Kane (DJ) and Bassik for a major celebration of local and international hip-hop.

With a catalogue rooted in Pretoria’s streets and a reputation built on authenticity and lyrical detail, 25K brings a distinctly South African voice to the festival lineup. From the breakthrough success of ‘Culture Vulture’ to the award-winning Loyal to the Plug, his journey reflects the growth of an artist who continues to put Pheli at the centre of his music. Catch him live at AFROTRAX this December and secure your tickets through PLAYY. Music.
