Tank Sets September 25 Date for New album, ‘Experience’
Tank returns with Experience, set for release on September 25 via R&B Money and BMG. Marking his eleventh studio album and first collection of new material since 2022’s R&B Money, the project signals a renewed chapter for the veteran artist. Raised in Clinton, Maryland, and born Durrell Babbs, Tank first emerged as a background vocalist for Aaliyah and Ginuwine before breaking through with Force of Nature in 2001, which propelled ‘Maybe I Deserve’ onto the Hot 100. His 2007 album Sex, Love & Pain delivered the Top 40 hit ‘Please Don’t Go’ and earned multiple GRAMMY nominations, bringing his career total to five. He later joined Tyrese and Ginuwine as TGT for the collaborative album Three Kings.
Following hearing loss in his right ear, Tank positioned R&B Money as a potential swan song, but Experience signals a return to form. The lead single ‘Control’ has already reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart, marking his eleventh chart-topper and tying Charlie Wilson for the most by a male artist.
Fans have already been treated to four tracks ahead of the album’s release. ‘Control’, which dropped on November 18, 2025, channels the spirit of Janet Jackson’s 1986 classic, transforming its boldness into a modern R&B anthem that explores intimacy as a dance of power. The visually striking video, directed by Daniil Demichev, followed in December. ‘Yes’, released July 10, reinvents Floetry’s ‘Say Yes’ as a smooth, midtempo groove, currently holding strong at No. 10 on the Adult R&B Airplay chart. ‘Highlight’, featuring Charlie Wilson and MK, dives into house and EDM, crafted for late-night dancefloors. ‘How I Need You’ brings together Kirk Franklin, Eric Dawkins, and Zacardi Cortez for a gospel-tinged arrangement that pays homage to Tank’s church roots. Experience will offer sixteen tracks in all.
Experience will comprise sixteen tracks in total.
