Soul singer Deniquė releases anthem ‘Black Queen’
Thrilling, unapologetic and liberated, ‘Black Queen’ is an anthem for Black women to celebrate themselves loudly and proudly. Written by Deniquė alongside Sel Tasty The Shapeshifter, the duo behind ‘Love U’, ‘Black Queen’ arrives alongside a warming video displaying Black Girl Magic. The video follows the journey of Black women of all ages celebrating the essence and beauty within their everyday rituals of getting ready.
Now focusing on releasing her first long-form project, “Seven” later in the year, Deniquė openly explores young love, letting go, personal growth and Black girl magic. On the road to “Seven”, Deniquė‘s music hopes to become a soundtrack to her life experience, unpacking the importance in vulnerability and growing through the ups and downs of life as a 23-year-old.
Heavily influenced by female RnB pioneers like Aaliyah and Toni Braxton along with new-school tastemakers such as Solange, Sampa the Great, Tems and Brent Fiyaz, Deniquė is meticulous about the vulnerability of her lyrics and the use of sonically adventurous beats.
