Her new album, ‘London Ko’ features a host of collaborating musicians, including Albarn, Angie Stone, Roberto Fonseca, M.anifest, Yemi Alade, and -M-. Fatoumata’s sounds jettison her audiences into her eclectic, avant-garde universe. Impossible to pin down into one genre, ‘London Ko’ contains multitudes of different styles and approaches (afrobeat, jazz, pop, electro, and hip hop). Speaking on the intention behind the track, Fatoumata explains: “‘Sete’ is a call to the world. I want to bring awareness about the barbaric practice of female genital mutilation that is still prevalent in many parts of Africa and, at the same time, give children the space they deserve as they represent our hope for a better future.”
