London-based artist and multi-hyphenate creative Brian Nasty released a new remix for his single ‘Loso Na Madesuby the French producer Lewis OfMan along with an instrumental of the original track. Simultaneously, Brian will debut a new music video for the original directed by the director Harry Deadman.

‘Loso Na Madesu’ — which translates to “Rice and Beans” in Lingala — is a standout track from Brian’s critically acclaimed Growing Pains EP, an eclectic project that showcases his genre-defying approach to music. Featuring UK vocalist Natanya, the song is a modern twist on the classic call-and-response style, infused with the warm, infectious rhythms of Highlife music, a genre that dominated African airwaves in the 1970s and 80s.

Brian Nasty, who is as much at home in the world of fashion and film as he is in music, expressed his excitement about the upcoming remix, saying, “I really wanted to have a remix for this song as I thought the simple melody could translate in so many places, and it was about figuring who could do it justice. I’m so grateful I got Lewis on board as I’ve been a fan of his music for a while. It only makes sense because I speak French at home. I can’t wait to spend more time in France, and who better to do that with than Lewis OfMan!”

In addition to the remix, there is also a brand-new music video for the original version of ‘Loso Na Madesu’, directed by Harry Deadman. Speaking about the project Brian said: “Making Loso was the closest I got to making something that represents all my loves in music at the time of making it. Catchy hooks, warm production, and an overall infectious vibe that can be played at the family function, which was initially my intention. I think this is the first time I enjoyed making a video as it came out exactly as I had wanted. Shout out to Harry Deadman for guiding me through that and trusting my ideas and taking them to the next level.”

The Growing Pains EP, from which the original track is taken, is a testament to Brian’s unique production and storytelling skills, blending elements of Highlife, soul, blues, rock, indie, and electronic music into a cohesive narrative about life’s complexities.

It came off the back of a busy few years for the artist, including collaborating with Metronomy on their 2021 Posse EP Volume 1; modelling for the likes of Vivienne Westwood, Adidas Originals, Dickies and Marc Jacobs, maintaining a particularly special creative relationship with Carhartt, Aries and Crtz; and releasing the short film Moon with Luke Casey — part of a trilogy of dream-inspired shorts where Brian both starred and contributed to the original score — which was featured on esteemed video channel NOWNESS.

His 2020 EP Not Here 2 Play!, and previous full-length mixtape Pyjama Party announced Brian as a new voice in the DIY world of experimental rap. His genreless approach to music making — which owes as much to the world of guitar-led indie rock as it does hip-hop, with lyrics that draw frankly on his own life experiences — was quick to gain the attention of outlets like The FADER, NME, Crack Magazine, Pigeons & Planes, Clash, The Line of Best Fit and more. With love also coming from Nilüfer Yanya and Joviale at 6 Music, Jamz Supernova at BBC 1Xtra, plus Boiler Room tapping him on to perform as part of their Low Heat series.
