Today, Ghanaian singer/songwriter and afrobeat extraordinaire DarkoVibes arrive with the video for his latest single ‘Happy Day’, following the charming and hypnotic Jealousy’ ft. Boomski Radio, both taken from his highly anticipated album, BUTIFLY set for release this October.

Recorded in Ada, Ghana, the single is infused with sensual grooves and displays Darkovibes’ dexterity with multilingualism, as he effortlessly flows over a jazzy afrobeat instrumental using Ga, Twi & Pidgin. “Happy Day” provides another essential summertime vibe from the multifaceted artist, with production coming from the exceptionally talented P. Priime who has worked with the likes of Wizkid, Olamide, Reekado Banks and Fireboy DML.

Directed by Lutch Media, the accompanying video depicts DarkoVibes spending a day of blissful romance with his love interest. Sauntering through the cosy living room and kitchen settings to the dusky cityscape in a classic Ford muscle car. It’s the perfect visual rendition of Darko’s smooth afrobeat tones and sensual melodics.

DarkoVibes says of the track: I recall I was on vacation in Ada with Wizkid when I met P.Priime. He is a super talented brother and I love the record we produced. Happy Day makes me feel like taking a highway cruise with a beautiful woman by my side and just enjoying the vibe and her company. I travel a lot and perform to many different audiences so my lifestyle has definitely played a role in the way I made this song.

Back in 2017, DarkoVibes released his breakout hit single Tomorrow, which set the Ghanaian artist on a trailblazing path that would eventually lead to collaborations with revered artists such as Davido, Mr Eazi, R2bees and many more. One such collaboration with King Promise spent 30 weeks atop Apple Music’s top 100 Ghana charts and became the most-played song on the streaming service for 2020. A truly seismic feat. Last year DarkoVibes solidified his hit-making capabilities through Je M’appelle, a collaboration with the legendary Davido, racking up over a million youtube views in just two weeks. A multifaceted artist with a penchant for 80’s fashion (he was featured by Vogue UK), DarkoVibes aligns his sights for another showstopping year championing and melding some of the most exciting sounds from across the diaspora.
