South African producer Prince Kaybee, real name Kabelo Motsamai, has joined international electronic imprint PLAYY Records, with his new single ‘Heno Babayo‘ set for release on 26 June 2026. The signing marks a new chapter after a lengthy tenure with Universal Music South Africa, where Kaybee emerged as a defining force in the country’s dance music landscape. His ascent began in 2015, following his victory in the SABC 1 Masters of Spin competition.

Originally set on a professional football career with Bloemfontein Celtic, Kaybee redirected his ambitions to music after a knee injury. Over the past decade, he has delivered a string of influential singles, including ‘Club Controller‘, ‘Banomoya‘, and ‘Uwrongo‘, the latter earning a place on TIME’s 10 Best Songs of 2020. His collaborative credits span Lady Zamar, Busiswa, TNS, Shimza, Black Motion, and Ami Faku. Accolades include multiple South African Music Awards for Male Artist of the Year, Best Dance Album, and Album of the Year, as well as Metro FM and DStv Mzansi Viewers’ Choice honors. Internationally, he secured Best Collaboration at Nigeria’s Soundcity MVP Awards Festival for ‘Gugulethu‘ and recognition from AFRIMMA.

Signing with PLAYY Records positions Prince Kaybee within a global electronic music framework, expanding his reach through established international distribution. For an artist whose sound already resonates beyond South Africa, the partnership opens direct pathways to international playlists, touring circuits, and audiences attuned to Afro-house innovators like Black Coffee, Keinemusik, and Zakes Bantwini.

PLAYY Records curates a selective international roster, prioritising quality over volume across Afro-house, melodic house, techno, and club-focused electronic music. This approach fosters cross-genre visibility while ensuring each artist receives dedicated promotional support through the label’s PR and events network. For Prince Kaybee, the structure offers tangible benefits: robust international distribution, targeted promotion within the electronic landscape, and a platform experienced in elevating artists who fuse regional influences with global electronic forms.
